NEW AND RESTATED POLICIES FOR 2010-2011

Dear Parents and Students:
In an effort to have a smooth transition into the 2010-2011 school year, this letter serves as notification of important changes that have been made. Effective August 2010, the following changes are in effect:
Administrative Changes
• The position of grade level administrator has been abolished and each administrator has been assigned new responsibilities.
• Mrs. Jacqueline Williams now serves as Dean of Students and will handle discipline for all grade levels.
Dress Code Policy Changes
• Only tan colored pants (No other colors are allowed!) may be worn as part of the Poly uniform and Closed toe shoes (Dress or Athletic).
• Non - see-through bags of any kind are not permitted by any students - male or female. This includes large purses, messenger bags, beach bags, draw string bags, athletic bags, back packs on wheels, etc.
• Only official Poly clothing available through Flynn & O’Hara, Super Kids or an identical copy approved by the school may be worn (polo shirts, Oxford shirts, pull-over sweatshirts, cardigans).
• When wearing an official Poly cardigan, a Poly polo shirt or Oxford shirt must be worn under it.
• Students who borrow a Poly top due to a dress code violation must pay $1.00 and must wash and return the top to Mrs. Holley in the main office the following school day.
Cell phones
• Cell phone use is not permitted in the building or in the quad at any time.
• Parents may not contact their children via cell phones during the school day. In emergency situations, parents are to call the main office at 410- 396-7026 to contact their child.
• Students observed using a cell phone in the building - for any reason - will have their cell phone confiscated by the staff member observing the violator.
• Confiscated cell phones will be given to Mrs. Williams and will not be returned to the student.
Handheld Electronic Devices
• The use of handheld electronic devices is not permitted in the building or in the quad at any time.
• Students observed using an electronic device in the building -for any reason - will have the device confiscated by the staff member observing the violator.
• Confiscated electronic devices will be given to Mrs. Williams and will be returned to the parent and not the student.

• Under tops - change sweaters to cardigans
• Add- When wearing an official Poly cardigan a Poly polo shirt or oxford shirt must be worn under it.
• Under Bottoms reword to state- Unaltered tan colored pants, shirts, and shorts. No other colors are allowed!
• Final decision of the appropriateness of the uniform rests with Mrs. Williams.
Scholarship in the Memory of Ms. Janice Parker
Ms. Carole Bredenberg, former English Department Head, has established a scholarship in memory of Janice Parker. Those who wish to contribute should send a contribution c/o Mr. Mark T. Sawyer, Business Manager

Poly Graduate and Author Comes Back to School to Talk About Her Book
Morgan Carrington is a recent Poly grad, and she has written and published a novel. She will be in the Poly Library on Monday, March 8th, during lunch periods, to speak about her book and answer questions. There will be a limited number of copies of her book for sale, and we will also be taking orders at that time
Senior Vs. Faculty Basketball Game

Poly Raises $600 for Haiti
In a combined effort by many organizations at Poly, the school raised $600 dollars to help with the earthquake relief in Haiti. All the money was raised on Friday, January 15th and the money was donated to Doctors Without Borders.
Junior Ring Dance
The class of 2011 had their Ring Dance on Saturday, December 12th in the BPI Ballroom (Cafeteria). As the tradition requires, each student had their ring turned for the 111th time by their date.
Senior Vs. Junior Volleyball Game
Unfortunately, this year's annual Senior Vs. Junior Flag Football game had to become a volleyball game due to rain. Click on the headline for pictures and details.
HALLOWEEN HAUNTED GRAVEYARD
The Air Force JROTC and members of the Class of 2010 created a haunted graveyard in the Aero-Space Science Lab to boost spirit during the Halloween celebration at Poly.
